Project Overview
The Inspiration
During the new year of 2018, I saw a rerun of the first Matrix movie. Having seen it when it originally came out in 1999, it wasn’t my first time watching — but with the recent release of VR to mainstream consumers, the idea of recreating an iconic movie scene as a proof of concept was born.
The Concept
The weapons room from The Matrix is a perfect fit for VR. This project served as a great introduction to VR development for me. The weapons racks spawn in long aisles and move towards the player, loaded with any type of gun you could want — just like in the film.
Future Vision
If I were to continue with this idea, the player would start in the weapons room, assemble their preferred loadout, and then teleport into a world where they must assault a predesignated location — or roam freely in an open-world city, GTA style.
